FOLLY GROUP FEWER CLOSER FRIENDS
Coming to prominence shortly before the lockdown, London's Folly Group had been popping up on nearly every excellent line up in the capital. Turning heads (including ours) with their arresting debut 'Butt No Rifle', it was only a matter of time before we heard more from these exciting new comers. Dropping a matter of hours ago, 'Fewer Close Friends' sees Folly Group building on the thundering post-punk that we heard on 'Butt No Rifle' through the incorporation of ravey, electronic samples, which propel the track ever-forward as guitarist Louis Swords' abrasive guitar strikes karate chop through the melee. Unexpected bass swells rumble beneath vocalist Sean Harper sardonic lyricism, which uncover a conscious desire to be admired, before the whole thing forks off into a twisted, riff driven ending. Check it out here now. -Holly Mullineaux
